Mediante un programa Uevado a cabo en centros de trabajo, los individuos con hipertensión arterial fueron identificados y tratados. El agente que se empleó inicialmente fue la hidroclorotiazida, a la que se añadieron prazosin o propranolol cuanáo fue necesario controlar la presión arterial. Se hizo una revision retrospectiva de sujetos que habían completado 6 meses de tratamiento con la combinación de tiazidaprazosin o tiazidapropranolol. Se logró control satisfactorio de la tension arterial con ambos regímenes.
