This is the second in a series of volumes under the heading Radiosurgery, the first of which maintains an important place on my bookshelf and provides comprehensive reviews on this developing subject. ...
These are not reviews for freshmen in the field or those wanting to obtain a wide angle view on which patients best benefit from the technique.
Overall, a commendable book, particularly in conjunction with its predecessor (Radiosurgery 1995), ... by itself, Radiosurgery 1997 is a specialist's tome ...
British Journal of Neurosurgery
... this book is a good source of information on highly specialized aspects of the current state of the art of radiosurgery. It contains several excellent review papers which would give the reader not familiar with this area some perspective on the field. However, most papers deal with some highly specialized aspects of radiosurgery, and as such would be more suitable as a reference to individuals involved in radiosurgery. The field of radiosurgery and stereotactic radiation therapy is a rapidly evolving clinical and technological enterprise, and this book represents a good collection of papers contributing to the growing body of knowledge in this area.

The most current information available
This publication reflects the most current and exciting developments in the field of stereotactic radiosurgery today. It marks the second volume in the book series ‘Radiosurgery’, which is the official peer-reviewed publication of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society. This latest volume includes long-term data on benign tumors, and evaluations on the role of whole-brain fractionated radiation therapy in patients with solitary metastases. Multicenter studies, methods to evaluate our data, grading scales, and novel irradiation approaches, together with technological improvements, characterize the new drive in this direction and form an important part of this book. It provides a vital source of scientific information on radiobiology, vascular malformation radiosurgery, benign and malignant brain tumor radiosurgery, extracranial radiosurgery, technological developments in radiosurgery, complication avoidance, and economic issues.
This book should be read by physicians and scientists interested in neurosurgery, radiation oncology, medical physics, neuroradiology, and neurology, in order to remain current with important developments in the field and their impact on the management of brain disease.
