The atlas [1st edition, 1954] soon became a standard text, widely used by anatomists, but also by neuropathologists and some neurologists. Because of its popularity, it was reprinted in a second edition in 1981 (Olszewski died in 1964). ... With this enlarged third edition, Professors Büttner-Ennerver und Horn have left intact most of the original descriptions, but updated them, and interpreted the findings in terms of modern neurobiology. Especially because of the combined presentation of structure, connections and functions, it will appeal to a broad range of clinician-scientists. ...
